Applications are now open for you to join Orchestras at Royal Holloway for 2023-24

Royal Holloway has an abundance of music ensembles that cater to the needs and wonderful talents of our students, many being led by internationally-renowned professionals. Applications are now open for your chance to play a part in the varied activities and performance opportunities that Orchestras at Royal Holloway have planned for 2023-24.  This is open to all students from any degree/course. Both new and returning students have to audition for these groups.

Applying in 2023-24?

Applications are now open for you to join Orchestras at Royal Holloway for 2023-24. There will be two stages to the application process:

1. Complete the short form here (scroll below), and;
2. Upload two files to our secure online folder (link embedded) containing you performing a prepared piece and a short orchestral excerpt. 

After you have submitted your short form, applicants will be asked to perform and record 3-5 minutes of a work of their choice (unaccompanied) and will be asked to also prepare and record a short orchestral excerpt.

Applicants should prepare, record and upload one orchestral excerpt selected from the list found here (scroll through to find your instrument and choose one).

Important information 

• The selection panel consists of Rebecca Miller (Director of Orchestras) and one invited leading professional.
• Based on your audition, you will be allocated to an ensemble(s). If your instrument does not fall within these groups (i.e. percussion), please contact Rebecca.Miller@royalholloway.ac.uk.  
• First taster rehearsal for all applicants will take place on Wednesday, 27 September 2023. 
• Your prepared files can be uploaded to this secure online folder (link embedded).

Applications are now open and both stages of the application process will have to be completed by 5.00pm on Friday, 29 September 2023.
