Micro-Placements Scheme

The Placements Team at Royal Holloway offers a limited number of work experience placements to interested students studying Mathematics. If you are a second-year Mathematics student, this is your chance to develop professional skills and improve your career prospects after graduation.

Work experience

Micro-placements are sourced in a variety of industries and sectors and are typically 2-4 weeks in length. They will take place in summer vacation between June and September.

Most of the placements are located in and around London, but requests for flexibility in location may be taken into consideration.

It’s a competitive selection process which has been designed to boost your employability skills.

As well as receiving professional feedback from the Careers & Employability Service, Maths students will also have a dedicated departmental Placements Officer. Successful applicants will be offered a placement secured by the Placements Team.

To find out more about the application process, drop an email to Ellen Jarman.

Feedback from a Royal Holloway Maths Intern

"Most of the experience itself was a highlight, the team were lovely and very welcoming so in a very short period of time I felt like a key member of the team. Everyone treated me very much as an equal and valued my opinion. I was also asked to accompany part of the team up to the office in Newcastle to present my work to the head of the live chat sales team. The fact that in all of the work I did I could see a tangible impact on the company and areas within."
