Working life

Working life

The Working Life (WL) research theme group is concerned with the changing nature of work and employment within the global economy, and the implications of these trends for both management and employees. This encompasses a wide range of issues at several levels - from transnational corporate activities, state regulation of work, individual experiences of work, the meaning of work in contemporary societies, to issues of topical significance to policy makers and practitioners in light of the recent financial crisis. The theme will draw together insights and debates on the nature and experience of work from across a wide spectrum of theoretical and disciplinary fields – including, but not limited to, organization studies, critical marketing, entrepreneurship, employment relations, socio-technical systems theory, and political economy.

The group's past activities are reported here: 2016-17.

For upcoming theme group events please see the School of Business and Management's Events page.
