Centre for Research into Sustainability: research seminar
Speaker: Dr Scott Taylor, University of Birmingham
Venue: International Building, Room 045
Abstract
For as long as management and organization studies (MOS) has existed as a research and educational field, feminism has offered challenges and opportunities to its development. Unfortunately, the many varieties of feminist theory and practice have, at best, occupied a marginal position, especially in our everyday practice and in the debates that unfold in places we socially construct as prestigious (e.g. highly regarded or ranked journals). This short presentation asks a series of questions as to how this happened, why it is being maintained, and whether there is promise in Corporate Social Responsibility to change it.
The presentation draws on empirical, review, and theoretical work published and in progress with collaborators: Emma Bell, Lauren McCarthy, Susan Merilainen, Owain Smolovic Jones, Laura Spence, Janne Tienari, Emily Yarrow.
