Dr Ayesha Siddiqi will be working with the International Development Committee (IDC) to increase the uptake and visibility of Global Challenges Research Fund (GCRF) research in Parliamentary Enquiries. This will include looking at ways to improve diversity and representation of disciplines and scholars in the evidentiary process. Her work with the IDC will culminate in a 2 day Parliamentary conference in early 2019.

This work has emerged out of Ayesha’s current AHRC-GCRF funded research project After Disaster Strikes and Other Stories (https://afterdisasterstrikes.portfoliobox.net/) that explores the intersection between natural hazard based disasters and conflict in the Philippines. The project uses arts based interventions to understand the ‘lived experience’ of a devastating typhoon in areas affected by a long-standing insurgency in southern Philippines. This research is also contributing to other think tank and UN report.
