Southeast Asia Research Group at BSRG

Southeast Asia Research Group at BSRG (and BSRG at RHUL…)

I recently attended the British Sedimentology Research Group AGM at Herriot Watt University, along with Kimberly Johnson and Conor Millan who are currently completing MRes projects with SEARG.

They are both looking at the provenance of the sedimentary fill of the Salin sub-basin, Myanmar. Despite only having been working on their projects since September, they both had enough data to present posters (complete with a 1-minute elevator pitch).

I presented a talk on the limitations of QFL as a provenance tool in humid environments. One of the best things about being in a long-standing research group is the access to large amounts of data to analyse. I was also lucky enough to co-chair the ‘Sedimentary Tape Recorders: Provenance’ session.

The conference ended with some fantastic news! BSRG will be held at Royal Holloway in December 2019.
