RHUL Psychology in the House of Commons

Dr Courtenay Norbury, John Bercow (Speaker of the House) and Mr Peter Martin (Deputy Leader of Surrey County Council)

On Monday night, 30th of January,  Dr Courtenay Norbury’s new Wellcome Trust funded Surrey Communication and Language in Education Study (SCALES) project was formally launched in the House of Commons.  The project will test a whole cohort of Surrey school children and will the be 1st UK based cohort study in early language development.

The speaker John Bercow has a personal interest in childhood language development and opened up the doors of the Speakers House specially for this event and gave an enthusiastic introduction to the project, which was followed by the Dr John Williams, the Chair of the Wellcome Neurosciences & Mental Health board and then by Dr Norbury.  The Principal, VP of Research, and Dean of Sciences of Royal Holloway, University of London, as well head of research and the head of  Department form Psychology were present. This very impressive event is a tremendous testament to the hard work and acheivement so far of Dr Norbury and her team.
