New investigator award for Dr Laura Mickes

Posted on 02/07/2013

Dr Laura Mickes who recently joined our department has been selected by the Division of Experimental Psychology (Division 3) of the American Psychological Association to receive a New Investigator Award. Each year, Division 3 gives a series of awards to honor outstanding new investigators. The Editors of each of the five sections of the Journal of Experimental Psychology nominate individuals based on the Editors' judgment of the most outstanding empirical papers authored by an eligible new scholar that were published or accepted for publication in their respective Journals. Selection of an award recipient for each of the journals is then made by an Awards Committee and approved by the Executive Committee of the Division.

Dr Mickes was selected on the basis of her paper titled, "Receiver operating characteristic analysis of eyewitness memory: Comparing the diagnostic accuracy of simultaneous versus sequential lineups," which was co-authored with H.D. Flowe and J.T. Wizted and appeared in the 2012 volume of the Journal of Experimental Psychology: Applied. She will be awarded the Division of Experimental Psychology 2013 New Investigator Award in Experimental Psychology: Applied.

Congratulations to Dr Mickes - what a great start to her work at the department!
