Title: New insights on classic action-inaction biases in judgment/decision-making

Abstract: In this talk, I will summarize empirical findings of several under-review multi-experiment research projects offering new insights on classic action-inaction biases (i.e., action-effect, Kahneman & Tversky, 1982; norm theory, Kahneman & Miller, 1986):

  1. When action-inaction framing leads to higher escalation of commitment: A new inaction-effect perspective on the sunk-cost fallacy
  2. The regret-action effect: Action-inaction attribution bias in evaluating expressions of regret
  3. What is normal? Clarifying the concept of normality in the context of the action-effect
