Leverhulme Visiting Professor Don Searing's Seminar Series

Posted on 11/11/2013
Don Searing

Our Leverhulme Visiting Professor, Don Searing, is running a short series of seminars designed to share his extensive experience of conducting qualitative research.

For anyone who uses or plans to use such methods, this will be an excellent opportunity for you to engage with some of Don's research and the practicalities of conducting qualitative research. PhD students in particular will see this as a valuable opportunity to learn about different methods and political psychology.

There will be three seminars, all on Wednesday afternoons (see below) from 4pm-6pm.
Each seminar will link a different issue in normative political theory with empirical political psychology. Each seminar will also focus on a different method. The dates and topics are as follows:

Wednesday 13 November. Focus Groups: Rights, Duties and Citizen Identities in the US and UK.
Wednesday 20 November. Elite Interviewing: Virtues and Vices of Liberal Democratic Leadership.
Wednesday 4 December. Measuring Highly Context-Dependent Dispositions: The Case of Political Tolerance.

Readings and further information will be circulated to participants. For further details please contact Dr Nicholas Allen.
