Diamond Lightsource at the Harwell Science and Innovation Campus
Dr Philipp Niklowitz has been awarded a grant from Diamond Light Source Ltd for the project entitled: 'Pressure-induced quantum phase transitions in transition-metal based correlated magnets'.
Dr Niklowitz comments: “The Quantum Matter Group is delighted to extend its collaboration with Diamond Light Source by a second joint PhD Studentship. James Poulten will join fellow PhD student, Terence Giles, in providing a link between the RHUL High-Pressure Lab and Extreme Conditions Beamline I15 and its principle beamline scientist Dr Heribert Wilhelm at Diamond. The collaboration has the benefit of combining our in-house measurements of pressure-tuned magnetic, thermodynamic and transport properties with synchrotron based simultaneous high-pressure and low-temperature structure determination at Diamond. In this way we obtain comprehensive insight into the physics of exciting unconventional magnets and superconductors."
