Video Conferencing

Access Grid

As part of our involvement in SEPnet we have augmented one lecture theatre (Tolansky Building T125) into a state of the art video conferencing facility. The facility provides the technologies to have immersive meetings with international partners, lectures across the South East or nationally without having to travel for meetings or conferences. To enable this we use Access Grid software provided via IOCOM with the following hardware :

  • 3 high resolution movable video cameras
  • 3 wide screen projectors (one just to see the remote audience)
  • Dedicated computer running IOCOM Access grid software
  • Hardware echo cancellation
  • Inductive loop system for the hard of hearing
  • High fidelity board capture to digitise lectures

This enables us to

  • Reduce travel for meetings and discussions with collaborators
  • Record lectures or talks (video and the written information)

In addition to T125 we also have a smaller video conference room, The Gardner Room, which can host smaller EVO, skype or normal telephone meetings.
