Welcome to the Department of Media Arts

We’re led by leading scholars in their specialist fields, award-winning experts, and practising professionals, many of whom maintain professional media careers as directors, producers and screenwriters. We’re committed to achieving the highest standards in our study, research, and practice of screen media.

Our postgraduate courses attract a wide range of talented and enthusiastic graduates ready to explore new avenues and careers. Graduates have gone on to achieve recognised success; from winning first prize at Open City Doc Fest (MA Digital Documentary); screening films at international festivals and winning multiple awards (MA Producing Film and Television), or having successful careers in major global media organisations. Our department works to harness our students’ creativity and polish their skills, equipping them for successful graduate careers.

Our postgraduate courses have access to both our Egham campus, which houses 24-7 media labs, post-production rooms, location filming equipment and TV and sound studio facilities, and the Royal Holloway London Graduate School (MA Producing Film and Television), situated in the heart of Bloomsbury. In having access to additional editing facilities, the central London location also offers our students inspiration in its proximity to major cultural events, and a wide array of academic support.

We’re also home to a vibrant community of postgraduate research students, who are provided intensive research training and are regularly invited to present their work to their peers.

We offer postgraduate courses in:

MA Producing Film and Television (at the Royal Holloway London Graduate School)

MA International Media Management
