Students will be given regular coursework enabling them to put into practice the theoretical content of seminars and lectures.

Overview:

There are 3 hours of seminars per week plus a grammar lecture on a fortnightly basis. Classes are arranged flexibly; moving between formal oral presentations and written work, to communicative work in pairs and small groups.

During the year there will be a focus on the following aspects:

 Textual analysis and grammar consolidation.

 Grammar work: theory and practice.

 Lexical work.

Oral and listening work through presentations, debates and the use of audiovisual aids such as podcasts, documentaries, etc. Students are asked to prepare short presentations in Spanish on a weekly basis and are expected to participate actively in discussions.

The aims of the course are:

  • To develop and consolidate sophisticated lexical and grammatical competence in the four skills of speaking, listening, reading, and writing in Spanish.
  • To develop further a sound structural and grammatical knowledge of Spanish communicative skills.
  • To make students aware of the link between language and culture.
  • To equip students with linguistic skills for the workplace
