SN1101 Passion and Betrayal on the Spanish Stage

Assessment:

Coursework (100%) The course is examined via two essays in English. First essay 1,200-1,500 words and second essay 1,500-2,000 words worth 30% and 60% of the final course mark, respectively. The remaining 10% component of assessment will be devoted to in-class assessment.

Overview:

  • To introduce students to some key Spanish dramatists of the 20th and 21st centuries
  • To place Spanish dramatists within their artistic and historical context
  • To encourage students to explore and develop their responses to the works studied.

To encourage students to make connections and comparisons between the texts studied and to trace themes of honour, passion and betrayal on the Spanish stage.
