Placements

Doing a placement or internship while you study helps to increase your employability once you graduate. You will compete more effectively in the competitive media job market (and elsewhere) by being able to put theory into practice, find your strengths and preferences, and boost your CV.

When the time comes, we have resources to help you look for a job and plan your career.

Placements include a varied selection of work experiences tailored to your interests.

Placements are typically 2-4 weeks in length and will take place between June and September.

Most of the placements are located around London, but requests for flexibility in location will be taken into account.

“I got involved in helping all different departments such as production animation and editing. In production I helped fill out call sheets and learnt how shoots were organised. In animation I saw the process they go through from start to finish and had the opportunity to play around on the software and after effects and learn new skills. In editing I watched over the editing process and was also given the opportunity to film and edit a video for their social media”

“The reason I enjoyed my placement so much is because no day was the same as the other. I was able to gain experience in all parts of the office, including use of editing software, which included Adobe Audition, but also the producing side of things, which included writing a script for a radio show and sourcing & organising both event locations and items required for the events”

Intern @ Create Productions

“The placement scheme gave me the opportunity to not only gain experience within a media company, but it helped me better my CV, my interview skills and gave me great insight into what employers look for in a candidate. The placement which I secured taught me so many helpful skills, and they have even taken me on as a freelance production assistant, meaning I now get to work as part of a media company thanks to the placement scheme. I would recommend everyone takes part in the scheme, as it is extremely helpful, and all the skills you receive will better prepare you for when you leave University.”
