MA3061 Dissertation (compulsory)

Content:

The course will begin with a five-week lecture course introducing students to more advanced research methodologies and consolidating the theoretical skills already learnt on other courses within the degree. To include: selection of research topic, advanced library and database skills, assistance with compiling bibliographies and filmographies, writing proposals and assimilating research). The students will have chosen their dissertation topics by the end of Week 6 of the Autumn Term and will be assigned a supervisor with relevant expertise. The students will submit a draft outline of the dissertation by the end of the Autumn Term and the supervisor will undertake to read up to 2,000 words of a first draft. (No supervision will take place after the end of the Spring Term). The final submission date for the dissertation will be the beginning of the Summer Term.

Assessment:

8,000-10,000 word dissertation.
