We endeavour to help students recognise their own strengths, skills and abilities so that they can make strong applications for their chosen job.
Within the Mathematics department itself, you’ll learn how to write a CV that will help you stand out amongst fellow Maths graduates as part of your studies, while the Careers Service at Royal Holloway will give you advice on careers, completing application forms and preparing for an interview.
Every student in the department is assigned a personal adviser, when they start at Royal Holloway, who will guide them through their time here and write references for postgraduate study and job applications.
The Careers Team, which is part of the University of London Careers Advisory Service, also hold regular sessions, specifically for Mathematics students, on summer internships, vacation employment and the careers available to them upon graduation.
A new Maths careers website has been launched by the Institute of Mathematics and its Applications, together with the London Mathematical Society and the Royal Statistical Society. This site includes useful advice on finding the right career.
