Princess Anne, Chancellor of the University of London, was invited to visit Royal Holloway recently to mark the 125th anniversary of the opening of Royal Holloway College by Queen Victoria in 1886. This year is also the 25th anniversary of Royal Holloway's merger with Bedford College, another college founded in the 19th century for women.

After a brief tour of the campus, Princess Anne unveiled a plaque in the College Chapel marking her visit on the 125th anniversary. Among the many dignitaries and guests invited to the ceremony was MBA student Samantha Groves (pictured right with the plaque).

"Attending the ceremony for the Silver Jubilee where I celebrated the 125th Anniversary of the founding of Royal Holloway campus was an incredible experience. I was thrilled when I learned that Her Royal Highness, The Princess Royal would be in attendance, and I that I would have the opportunity to see her at the ceremony in the Chapel. The most memorable moment for me was when HRH, The Princess Royal gave a speech before unveiling the plaque that commemorated the ceremony. I never believed I would get the chance to be a part of such a special event, and I was honoured just to be invited. It was truly a fantastic experience for me."
