Printing, photocopying & scanning

All photocopying and printing is self-service. When photocopying, all machines default to double-sided copying as part of our environmental policy to reduce the amount of paper the service is using.

Location

There are nine Multi-functional devices (MFDs) availble for use within the Library in the Emiily Wilding Davison Buidling. All print and copy in both colour and black and white.

There are two additional MFDS in the Research Postgraduate space.

Charges

Please visit this IT services page for the exact cost of photocopying and printing. There is additional information on how to print from your own laptop.

All photocopying and printing is charged through your College Print Account, so you will need credit on your account before you can copy or print. This can be done via the online top-up module or by using the self-service top-up machines, which are located at the Computer Centre.

Remaining credit is displayed on the screen after each copy or print, but you can also check by logging into Campus Connect

Copyright

When photocopying, please remember that it is a criminal offence to infringe the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988.

The Act is available for reference and brief summaries are displayed by the photocopiers. In particular, multiple copying of copyright material may not be done without the written permission of the copyright holder, except under the terms of the College's Licence, the details of which are displayed.

Binders

Binding equipment is available in the library and is free of charge. To use the binding equipment, users will need to purchase a comb and a front a back cover from the college shop. The library is unable to provide these items. Should you require assistance with the binding machines, the customer services team will be happy and on hand to help.

Behaviours

You may leave items at your study space for short periods of time at your own risk. Royal Holloway takes no responsibility for lost or damaged items.

Lost property

All found items received by Library staff are held at the helpdesk. If you have lost an item, please ask at the helpdesk.

Lockers Policy

There are 139 lockers available for use in the Library for all students. They are located in the Lower Ground Floor (36), the Archives corridor (12), 1st Floor (36), 2nd Floor, landing (27), PGR space (28).

  • Lockers are available to students/building users throughout the year.
  • The allocation of lockers is on a first come - first served basis. Library users are welcome to use them 24/7 in the library.

 

By using these lockers you are agreeing to abide by the terms and conditions below:

  1. Only one key is available for each locker and is always left in place.
  2. Users are required to insert a £1 coin, in order to use an available locker.
  3. No deposit is required for the usage of a locker but a replacement fee will be paid in the event of a lost key.
  4. Users are allowed to choose which locker they get, with the exception of the lockers in the Archives corridor, which have been set aside for the users of the Archives Reading Room and the lockers in the PGR space, which can be used by PGR students only.
  5. Students should not store food or drinks inside the lockers.
  6. Students should not store any books that have not been issued to them.
  7. Students are allowed to use the lockers at their own risk; neither the library nor the University can be held responsible of lost/damaged items.
  8. All lockers will need to be emptied and the keys returned back to the cabinet at the last day of each term.
  9. The library staff reserve the right to arrange spot checks at least once a month.
  10. Locker users must ensure that the lockers are left clean after their usage.
  11. Users should note that in the event of a locker key being lost, the user will be required to pay a fee of £10 to cover the cost of the key replacement.
