Accessing e-resources off-campus

The Library has many online resources which are only available to Royal Holloway students and staff. If you are on campus, you should be able to access nearly all of these without logging in. If you want to access these off-campus you should use CampusAnywhere the College’s virtual private network, which will simulate on-campus access.

In a minority of cases you may need to log in to access the resource. If you are using a link from LibrarySearch or the Library subject guides you may be prompted to log in using your College username and password (which you normally use to access email).

If you are not prompted to log in, you will need to find the log in option on the e-resource home page. The exact login location varies, but in most cases you will be given an option to log in "via your home institution" or "via Shibboleth". You will need to find Royal Holloway in the list of institutions and will then be directed to log in using your College username and password.

Ignore the resource’s own username and password box (this is for individual subscribers), and do not select the Athens, AthensDA or OpenAthens options as these are not used by the College.

If you are unsure about access to a resource, please email: library@rhul.ac.uk
