Theses - How do I access theses?

You can search for print copies of PhD theses completed at Royal Holloway or Bedford Colleges using the library catalogue. As these theses are held in the University of London Book Depository, they can take a couple of days to be delivered to the campus for viewing.  Please note that print theses can only be viewed as a reference item in one of our libraries. We do not loan print theses. If you would like to view one of these theses please contact library@rhul.ac.uk. Since 2010, many of our theses are available online Open Access via the College website.

The library participates in the British Library's EThOS service, which provides access to many theses from most British Universities. Some theses have been digitised already and are instantly accessible. Others are available for digitisation, which can take up to 30 days, but the thesis will be delivered to your inbox as a PDF. Dependent on the university responsible for the thesis, there may be a cost to pay for digitisation.

DART Europe is a search portal that locates theses in the institutional repositories of many leading European research universities.  It is free to use and there is no cost for accessing full-text copies of electronic theses.

Print theses held at other university libraries may be available as an inter-library loan. If you have any queies about theses please contact library@rhul.ac.uk.
