Password - change or reset

You may see this message on Password Manager. If so, the Compatibility View icon at the top or the Ignore button at the bottom should fix the problem. Or, try a different web browser.

  • Passwords must contain at least 8 and at most 16 characters
  • Passwords should not contain a space, a UK pound sign ( £ ), a quote character ( " ), a less than symbol ( < ) or any character not on a standard UK keyboard
  • Strong, memorable passwords of 16 or fewer characters can be constructed by putting together three random short words or names together with one or two capitals, symbols or numbers thrown in.

How to use Password Manager

You can change your password, or reset a forgotten one, from both on and off campus using Password Manager.

Finding your account

  1. Click the large Proceed to Password Manager button above.
  2. Enter your username (e.g. zyxw321) into the the Enter your first, last, partial, or logon name: box.  If unsure, enter your first and last name in any order separated with a space, e.g. Liu Bei or Bei Liu
  3. Click on Search to display a list of options

I only see "Register with Password Manager" and "I Have a Passcode"

If you don't have a Forgot My Password or a Manage My Passwords option, try the following.

  1. Follow the Finding your account instructions above
  2. Click on the Register with Password Manager link
  3. Enter your password into the Password: panel and click on Next.  If you don't know your current password at this point, or it is not accepted, please contact the IT Service Desk
  4. Select and answer any 3 security questions from the available list. These will be used in the future to identify you to the Password Manager facility, so you must ensure your answers are memorable.  It is advisable to untick the "Hide my answers" box if you are not in a place where others can view your screen, this will make the process much easier
  5. When finished, click on Finish, then Go to home page.  You can now use the below options to change your password

Changing your password

  1. Follow the Finding your account instructions above
  2. Click on the Manage My Passwords link
  3. Enter your password into the Password: panel
  4. Enter the new password you wish to use in the two boxes, then click Finish
  5. On most services your new password will work right away, but if not, please try again after five minutes.

Resetting a forgotten password

  1. Follow the Finding your account instructions above
  2. Click on Forgot My Password.  If it is not available, please contact the IT Service Desk
  3. Answer the security questions and click Next
  4. Enter the new password you wish to use in the two boxes, then click Finish
  5. On most services your new password will work right away, but if not, please try again after five minutes.
