Prerequisites

  • IE 10 or lower (IE11 is currently supported on Windows 8.1 only).
  • Only 32-bit browsers are supported.
  • You must already be connected to the internet.
  • Pop-ups must be enabled (see troubleshooting steps below).
  • Internet Explorer - On 64-bit operating systems, browsers must run in 32-bit compatibility mode.

 

Quick install steps

1. In your browser connect to: https://webvpn.rhul.ac.uk/

2. Your browser may require extra components which you will need to accept and install to connect to CampusAnywhere (VPN).

3. Once completed the logon page will load allowing you to logon to the Royal Holloway network with your College username and password.

4. You will get a status screen, which you can minimise to the Task Bar to the bottom of the screen. There is also a Logout button on this page to logout of the VPN connection.

 

Full installation steps

Note: During the initial connection process a number of prompts will appear which you need to accept to connect to the CampusAnywhere (VPN).

1. The first is to allow pop-up’s from this website - webvpn.rhul.ac.uk

2. Your browser will require a software component to install. Select "Install the new browser component and continue".

3. Install the browser component.

4. Prompt to allow CacheCleaner.

Select “Do not show me the warning for this program again” and click Allow.

5. The logon page will load allowing you to logon to the Royal Holloway network with your RHUL username and password.

6. Prompt to allow "Network Access Helper"

Select “Do not show me the warning for this program again” and click Allow.

7. Run or Save then run this program to install this software.

8. You will get a status screen, which you can minimise to the Task Bar to the bottom of the screen. There is also a Logout button on this page to logout of the VPN connection.

 

 

Troubleshooting

To allow pop-ups in Internet Explorer:

Click the Alt key to view the menu bar - navigate to Tools--> Internet options--> Privacy.

Click the Settings button under the Pop-up Blocker section.

Address of website to allow - https://webvpn.rhul.ac.uk - click Add - then close and Ok to apply the new setting.
