Prerequisites

  • You must already be connected to the internet.
  • Pop-ups must be enabled. To enable see trouble shooting steps below.

Note:If you get the following error - The add-on could not be downloaded because of a connection failure on webvpn.rhul.ac.uk.

Quick install steps

1. In your browser connect to: https://webvpn.rhul.ac.uk

2. Your browser will require a software components to install which you need to accept to connect to the CampusAnywhere (VPN).

3. Once completed the logon page will load allowing you to logon to the Royal Holloway network with your RHUL username and password.

4. You will get a status screen, which you can minimise to the Task Bar to the bottom of the screen. There is also a Logout button on this page to logout of the VPN connection.

Full installation steps

Note: During the initial connection process a number of prompts will appear which you need to accept to connect to the CampusAnywhere (VPN).

1. The first is to allow pop-up’s from this website - webvpn.rhul.ac.uk

 

2. Your browser will require a software component to install. Select "Install the new browser component and continue".

3. Install the browser component.

4. Prompt to allow CacheCleaner.

Select “Do not show me the warning for this program again” and click Allow.

5. The logon page will load allowing you to logon to the Royal Holloway network with your RHUL username and password.

6. Prompt to allow "Network Access Helper" click yes.

Troubleshooting

To allow pop-ups in Firefox:

Click the Alt key to view the menu bar - navigate to Tools--> Options--> Content.

To the right of Block popup windows click Exceptions.

Add webvpn.rhul.ac.uk - in the Address of website, click allow and close then OK to apply the new setting.
