Network connection - How do I connect my computer to the College network?

Question:
Network connection - How do I connect my computer to the College network?
Answer:

The College has made provision for students to connect their own laptop to the College’s network. Please see further information about the CampusNet network connection service.

Note: you will only be able to use this service if you computer has not got it’s own ("static") IP address.

If you are having problems with your wired connection and can't see the registration page please follow the steps below:

1. Check that you are set up correctly (on DHCP) by clicking on your Start button, then 'Run', Type NCPA.CPL in the white box and press OK. You will see this window:

2. Select local area connection and properties. In the list double-click Internet Protocol. (v 4)

3. "Obtain an IP address automatically" should be selected.  If this is not the case you will need to establish which network the assigned number is used for and whether it is still required.

4. Click 'OK' on both screens and open your browser. You should be redirected to the registration page.
