Professor Lizzie Coles-Kemp to present paper at this year's Academic Archers Conference

Posted on 15/02/2017
Lizzie Coles-Kemp is taking part in this year's Academic Archers Conference. The conference provides a forum in which to discuss a variety of topics and issues related to the iconic BBC Radio 4 radio soap The Archers. The conference papers present both an academic perspective on life in Ambridge and Borsetshire and throw an interdisciplinary light on wider social issues. Lizzie's paper titled "'An everyday story of country folk' online? The marginalisation of the internet and social media in The Archers" is co-written with Portsmouth University academic Debi Ashenden. In their paper the authors examine the absence of stories related to social media, such as cybercrime and identity theft. they explore what the virtual world of The Archers might tell us about everyday security and present some of the complexities related to real-world social media use that are often ignored in academic analysis. Further details about the conference can be found on the Academic Archers Conference webpage.
