Manual Handling Practical Skills

Under the College Manual Handling Policy and Procedure appropriate information, instruction and training shall be provided to all members of staff required to perform manual handling operations. In practice such training will be provided following a risk assessment, as it is only at the post-assessment stage that the hazards and risks to which staff are exposed will be clear. This course is, therefore, designed to meet, departmental risk assessed needs. The course is for those undertaking manual handling tasks and individuals will learn about the risks associated with these operations, the importance of good lifting techniques and the minimisation of risk, all of which will be specific to their own work activities.
