Health and Safety Co-ordinators

The role of Health and Safety Co-ordinator is designed to assist Heads of Department to implement effective safety management systems and the arrangements necessary to meet the requirements of the College’s Health and Safety Policy and its associated policy and procedure documents. In undertaking this task, they have the ability to contribute to the achievement of legislative and best practice standards and the development of a positive departmental and corporate ‘Safety Culture’.

Display Screen Equipment Assessors

The role of Display Screen Equipment Assessor is designed to assist Heads of Department to implement effective management arrangements necessary to meet the requirements of the College's Health and Safety Display Screen Equipment Policy and Procedure. In undertaking this role, assessors have the necessary knowledge and expertise to conduct risk assessments using the College workstation assessment form, advise staff on the minimisation of risk from display screen work, and are able to identify and take remedial action where risks are identified.

Manual Handling Assessors

In accordance with the College Manual Handling Policy and Procedure, where an identifiable risk exists from manual handling activities, a risk assessment must be completed. At departmental level, these trained members of staff (acting on behalf of their manager) will  conduct these assessments. In undertaking this role, these individuals will have the necessary knowledge and expertise to conduct risk assessments using the College manual handling assessment checklist and are able to identify and take remedial action where risks are established.
