First targeted treatment success for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy

Professor George Dickson with a team of scientists led by the UCL Institute of Child Health made an important breakthrough in the development of a drug for treating Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy in July 2011. They discovered that a gene-based drug treatment was effective in restoring the dystrophin protein that is missing in sufferers of the condition.
