The 7th annual Runnymede International Literary Festival will take place from 8-17 March. The festival, which has former Poet Laureate Sir Andrew Motion and Man Booker Prize winner Hilary Mantel as patrons, is organised by Royal Holloway and Runnymede Borough Council and sponsored by Procter and Gamble. The aim is to make national and international writers and poets accessible to the community and to inspire a love of literature.
This year’s festival features readings from new novels by Sir Andrew Motion, Susanna Jones and Kate Williams; a reading by contributors to the anthology Bedford Square 5; and readings from major international poets such as John Kinsella and Tony Lopez, as well as a range of exciting younger poets. It also includes a series of community workshops with pupils from schools across the South East, who are invited to take part in creative literary activities which are this year themed around the Olympics.
Following the success of last year’s ‘Runnymede Festival in London’, there will be a full programme of readings at the Centre for Creative Collaboration in Acton Street as well as the events on campus.
