After months of secrecy we can now reveal Royal Holloway, University of London will be showcased in next week’s Celebrity MasterChef contest.
The episode, to be aired on BBC 2 from 6:30pm on Tuesday 21 August, will feature Holby City actress Laila Rouass, singer Gareth Gates, actor George Layton and author/actress Emma Kennedy battling it out in the kitchens at Royal Holloway.
The celebrities were presented with an array of ingredients including chicken, lamb, cous cous, rice, and a range of fruit and vegetables by the College’s Head Chef, Carol Vallejo, which they had to transform into 180 lunch portions to serve to students and staff in the Hub.
As well as filming the hotly contested battle between the contestants, the BBC Crew captured footage of the stunning Founder’s building, a performance by the Choir of Royal Holloway, a rehearsal by the Department of Drama and Theatre, as well as conducting interviews with the Principal, Professor Paul Layzell and students.
The opening scenes, with presenters John Torode and Gregg Wallace, were shot in the North Quad just in front of the Queen Victoria Statue.
The original filming took place in February but details of Royal Holloway’s involvement were kept under wraps until earlier this month.
