Staff success on the ILM Endorsed Middle Management Programme

Congratulations to ten members of staff from departments across the College who have successfully completed the middle management qualification, endorsed by the Institute of  Leadership & Management.

Staff Development offers this qualification as an introduction to the wide range of responsibilities of a middle manager and this year one member of staff, Helen Groenendaal of Registry (Support and Advisory)  received an award for outstanding achievement.

First Line Management programme 

Applications are now being  invited for the ILM Endorsed Development Programme in First Line Management. This qualification is aimed at members of staff who are likely to become first line managers (team leaders or supervisors) or who are already in post but have had little or no formal training. The course of study comprises 6 one-day modules spread over a period of 6 months and is delivered on-campus by an external consultant.  The following topics are covered:-

  • Problem Solving Skills
  • Using Information for Decision Making
  • Building Effective Teams
  • Delegation
  • Communication Process
  • Managing Performance
  • Managing Diversity
  • Coaching
