Sarah Moffat, Senior Faculty Administrator at Royal Holloway, and former student, is part of a team visiting South Africa to explore Higher Education administration in the country.
South Africa’s university sector is the strongest and most diverse in Africa, and public funding of higher education has increased in recent years. Despite the enormous challenges faced, the growth and transformation of the student population has been astonishing. Yet there are still huge differences in participation between racial groups.
Between 11 and 21 November 2012 the AUA/AHUA Study Tour will travel to South Africa, focusing on Pretoria, Johannesburg and Cape Town, visiting universities and education organisations to explore three key themes:
- Getting in to university
- Life beyond the classroom
- Professional development
You can follow Sarah and the rest of the Tour participants through their
Study Tour blog.
Sarah will also be sharing her experiences with Royal Holloway staff in the new year.
