Andrew Martin, former colleagues and member of Council

Posted on 19/11/2012

It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to Andrew Martin, former colleague in Facilities Management and Member of Council. Andrew died  in the early hours of Saturday, peacefully in his sleep, following a three and a half years long battle with cancer.

Andrew joined the College in 2002 as Assistant Director, Management Services in Facilities Management.  Through his job he worked with most academic and non-academic departments and had wide ranging contacts within the College community.  He served on Council from 2008 to 2011 and on various College committees including Estates, Space and the Trading Sub Committee.  Andrew was actively involved in the College life and in the outside community in both Englefield Green and in the Guildford area where he lived. He was especially supportive of College Events and the opportunities they provided for networking, always close to his heart.

Although Andrew retired in the Summer of 2011 on grounds of ill health, he continued to attend the many dinners and other events until relatively recently. He remained passionately interested in the College’s affairs always keen to hear from his colleagues and friends and share a laugh and a joke with them.
