Under the supporting objective, ‘Our people and culture ‘in the College’s Strategic Plan two of the key goals are to
- Promote and facilitate equality and diversity
- Improve employee engagement, communications and consultation
Employee network groups play a vital role in delivering these goals and the College would like to encourage and support the development of diversity networks or forums. There is currently a small informal network of LGBT staff within Royal Holloway and a Disability Forum which is not widely known to staff. Other networks and forums are being planned such as a BAME network, New Parents Forum etc.
LGBT staff who are interested in participating in the network should send a message to LGBT.staffrhul.ac.uk. Plans are underway to run an LGBT staff survey to find out what networks would be most effective, the sort of activities or support wanted, and when/where meetings should be held.
The Disability Forum is now well established although membership numbers are fairly small. Professor Scott Elias, our Disability Champion is starting an online support and advice forum and we would also like to encourage greater participation amongst disabled staff. Currently there are plans for a BAME (Black, Asian, and Minority Ethnic) Network and a virtual New Parents Forum.
We would like to hear from staff interested in participating in these and the Disability Forum, or would like to initiate other networks or forums. Please send your messages suggestions or comments to Susan.Leerhul.ac.uk.
