United Kingdom

background to Modern BritainIf you’re currently studying in the United Kingdom, you may be interested in progressing onto an undergraduate or postgraduate course at Royal Holloway, University of London.

We welcome many international students who are already living in the UK and work closely with schools and colleges, as well as individual applicants, to ensure you are supported through the application process.

The Regional Manager responsible for international applicants in the UK is Sarah Parker. Please do not hesitate to contact her at Sarah.Parker@royalholloway.ac.uk if you would like to any further information or require assistance in making an application.

As you are already in the UK, why not take the opportunity to come and visit our campus for yourself? Royal Holloway organises Open Days which include guided tours of our campus, visits to academic departments and useful talks on areas such as accommodation and finance. You will also mix with current and prospective students on the day, and have the chance to experience a taste of student life on our campus.

If you are unable to attend an Open Day, we can arrange guided tours of the campus, along with meetings with academic departments. For further information please email us at campus-tours@royalholloway.ac.uk.

Applicants to Royal Holloway come from a diverse range of backgrounds and we accept a broad range of qualifications to our courses. Each applicant is considered carefully on their individual merits, but please see below for the standard minimum entry requirements.

A levels & International Baccalaureate (IB)
Students who have taken A levels or the IB Diploma will be considered for direct entry onto our undergraduate programmes. Specific grade requirements can be found in the course finder entry for your chosen course.

International Foundation Programmes
Students who have taken recognised international foundation programmes will be considered for direct entry onto our undergraduate programmes. The entry requirements will vary depending on which programme you have taken.

Our International Foundation Year, run by Study Group, is a programme of academic and English language study skills for international students who do not meet the direct entry requirements for undergraduate study.

Bachelors Degree
Students who have successfully completed a UK Bachelors degree in an appropriate subject will be considered for entry to a Royal Holloway Master's degree programme. Exact requirements will depend upon the programme and some programmes may have other specific entry requirements. Please see the relevant course finder entry for further information.

Masters Degree
Students who have successfully completed a UK Masters degree in an appropriate subject will be considered for entry to a Royal Holloway MPhil/PhD programme. Your potential supervisor should be able to assist you with the department-specific application requirements but if you are in doubt please contact the Director of Graduate Studies for further guidance.

English language

Students will need to be able to prove that they have a minimum level of English language proficiency.

Students who do not quite make the English language requirements may be able to take a pre-sessional English language programme.

For undergraduate students, applications are made online via UCAS. Students applying for a postgraduate course apply to Royal Holloway directly.

You can find further information on how to apply in the Study here section of the Royal Holloway website.

Royal Holloway offers a range of scholarships for our international students. You can find out which ones you're eligible for on our undergraduate scholarships page and postgraduate scholarship page.

If you are considering postgraduate study at Royal Holloway, you can also find out about the external funding that is available to you.
