NorwayRoyal Holloway warmly welcomes students from Norway; we currently have 11 Norwegian students studying with us, and our community is rapidly growing.

Norwegian students at Royal Holloway study on a diverse range of programmes with Politics & International Relations and Management amongst the most popular subjects.

Prospective students from Norway can apply for Lånekassen funding to study at Royal Holloway, and additional Lånekassen funds are available to study on our prestigious MSc Information Security.

Applicants to Royal Holloway come from a diverse range of backgrounds and we accept a broad range of qualifications to our courses. Each applicant is considered carefully on their individual merits, however please see below for the standard minimum entry requirements for students from Norway.

Undergraduate

Certificate of Upper Secondary Education (Vitnemål fra den Videregående Skole) 
Students who have taken the Certificate of Upper Secondary Education (Vitnemål fra den Videregående Skole) will be considered for direct entry onto our undergraduate programmes. You will be expected to have an average grade of between 4 - 5 depending on which course you are applying for; the majority of undergraduate courses will require an average grade of 4 with a 5 in at least one subject related to your chosen course.

A levels and International Baccalaureate (IB)
Students who have taken A levels or the IB Diploma will be considered for direct entry onto our undergraduate programmes. Specific grade requirements can be found in the course finder entry| for your chosen course.

Postgraduate

Bachelor's Degree
Students who have successfully completed a Bachelor's degree in an appropriate subject with good grades/GPA and at a reputable university will be considered for entry to a Royal Holloway Master's degree programme. Exact requirements will depend upon the programme, but most departments will ask for a minimum final grade of either B or C.

Master's Degree (Magister)
Students who have successfully completed a Master's degree in an appropriate subject with good grades/GPA and at a reputable university will be considered for entry to a Royal Holloway MPhil/PhD programme. Exact requirements will depend upon the programme, but most departments will ask for a minimum final grade of either B or C.

English Language

IELTS / TOEFL score
Students will need to be able to prove that they have a minimum level of English language proficiency|.

Certificate of Upper Secondary Education (Vitnemål fra den Videregående Skole) 
Students with between 4- 5 in the English components of the Certificate of Upper Secondary Education (Vitnemål fra den Videregående Skole)  will be considered for exemption from IELTS / TOEFL requirements.

Students who do not quite make the English language requirements may be able to take a pre-sessional English language programme.

 

Applying

For undergraduate students, applications are made online via UCAS|. Students applying for a University preparation course or a postgraduate course apply to Royal Holloway directly.

The local Norwegian community

There is a very strong student community at Royal Holloway and there are a range of clubs and societies for students to join, both on the campus and in the local area. For more information please see our clubs and societies page| or go to the Students' Union website.|

Royal Holloway is recognised as one of the University of London’s best sporting Colleges and  RHULSPORT| offer 35 student sports clubs and high quality on- and off-campus facilities.   

Community Action Volunteering| exists to connect, train and support Royal Holloway students seeking to volunteer in the local community.
