Travelling to Royal Holloway

The easiest and most convenient way to travel to the College will depend upon your port of entry and your time of arrival.

For general information on the location of Royal Holloway and how to reach us, please take a look at the maps and travel directions on our main website.

You should also read the information below, which refers specifically to international students and the days that you should arrive:

Travel from Heathrow Airport

The nearest airport to Royal Holloway is Heathrow Airport. We offer an Airport Pickup service from Heathrow Airport on Saturday 20th September and Sunday 21st September 2014. If you would like to use the airport pick-up service, please register online|. There is no charge for this service.

Students arriving at airports other than Heathrow cannot be met upon arrival. However, students can make use of airport link buses from these airports to Heathrow and can be met at Heathrow Terminal 1 to be taken to the College on the Saturday or Sunday.

If you arrive on a day other than 20th or 21st September 2014, a pick-up service is not available and you will need to make your own way to the College. It is recommended that you do not take a black taxi from the airport, as this will be very expensive.  It is advisable to call a local taxi company, such as Gemini Taxis (telephone 01784 471 111 or email geminicarsbtconnect.com|) who will charge about £23 for a taxi from Terminals 1 - 4 and £19 from Terminal 5 to Royal Holloway.  These rates normally apply from 6am- midnight.  There is also a 'Meet & Greet' service for an extra £18 where a lady will meet you at the arrivals hall, information is on the link.

Alternatively, make your way to the main coach station at Heathrow Central Bus Station and catch the 441 bus (timetable|), which stops in front of the main campus and runs from 0730-1830 Monday to Saturday or 1000-1800 Sunday.

Travel from other London airports

The other London airports are a very considerable distance from the College and you should be aware that travel by taxi from these airports will be £60 or more, depending upon the airport at which you arrive. The following web sites will  be useful when planning travel from these airports:

The closest train station to the College is in Egham, about a 15-minute walk from the campus. The Egham station is on a main line which connects to London Waterloo and Reading. The cost of the journey will depend upon where you are travelling from, and the day and time in which you are travelling.
