Description

What is it?

The aim of this programme is to build knowledge, skill and confidence to enable you to take and write notes of meetings which achieve their purpose.

Target audience

Anyone wishing to develop minute-taking and note-taking skills

Programme objectives

  •     build confidence as a note-taker
  •     improve note-taking and listening skills
  •     pick out key points from discussions and translate into minutes
  •     produce an accurate, brief and clear set of minutes in an appropriate style 

Programme components

 This is a highly participative and interactive workshop with trainer input, lots of group work with practical and fun exercises and tasks.

You will:

  •     identify the roles and responsibilities of the different members of the meeting
  •     understand that there are three stages of a process for minute-taking
  •     plan an agenda with a purpose
  •     prepare and plan for the meeting as the note-taker
  •     understand the style of minutes needed
  •     take the notes – listening to understand and select the relevant points
  •     learn techniques for note-taking
  •     convert notes into minutes
  •     write clearly and concisely, being logical and clarifying actions
  •     produce a checklist to assist with writing effectively
