Description

What is it?

 

This is an interactive workshop combining tools and techniques with opportunities to reflect and practice. Attendees will explore their experiences and leave with concrete skills to improve their confidence and assertiveness.

 

Target audience

This workshop has been designed for any member of staff who finds it difficult to feel confident and/or be assertive and would like to explore ways to improve.

Programme objectives

By the end of the programme, participants will:

  • Understand the difference and connections between confidence and assertiveness
  • Become more aware of the people and situations with whom and in which they aare less confident or assertive
  • Increase  awareness of their thoughts and emotions and how they impact on their behaviours
  • Improve confidence from the inside, challenging unhelpful thoughts and emotions
  • Be able to act confidently and assertively when required
  • Have gained skills to continue to learn and improve their confidence and assertiveness

Programme components

This workshop includes:

  • An interactive, one day workshop
  • A workbook packed with practical activites and ideas to support self-directed learning for confidence and assertiveness
  • A reflective learning log to track personal development and document progress for appraisals
  • Time to network with like-minded staff from across the university and build a support network
