Affiliated Students: ---
Funding Source(s): Wellcome Trust
Funding Amount: £238,262

Over a five-year period, Barbara Zipser is going to edit and translate de curatione, a vast medical handbook from tenth-century Byzantium, and write on the world in which this work was compiled, revised and used. Parallel to this, she is going to set up a wiki on Simon Ianuensis' clavis sanationis, a thirteenth century medical dictionary in Latin, Greek and Arabic. The project is going to be based at the RHUL Department of History, and it will also involve some cooperation with other disciplines, such as science and medicine.
