David Cesarani

Professor David Cesarani, 1956-2015

Our colleague David Cesarani (1956-2015) was a leading historian of the Holocaust and of Anglo-Jewry, and a public intellectual concerned with the importance of historical understanding.  The aim of this conference is to celebrate his work through presenting and debating leading and new research in these areas, and by holding a large public engagement event on recent work on the Holocaust and its legacy.

Topics presented at the conference are those that were of interest to Professor Cesarani, namely: Holocaust history and memory; Zionism; anti-Semitism as an intellectual tradition and political movement; and the history of Anglo-Jewry.

The conference will take place on Monday 3rd and Tuesday 4th April. The first day and a half will be an academic conference situated in Senate House; the afternoon of the 4th will see a public event taking place at the Imperial War Museum, with roundtable discussions regarding Holocaust consciouness in Britain and David Cesarani's role in raising this.

Please note that registration for the conference has now closed.

For questions or enquiries, please email Imogen Dalziel (Administrator, Holocaust Research Institute) using the conference email address: cesarani.conferencerhul.ac.uk.

You can find the final programme for the conference here.

This conference is generously sponsored by Pears Foundation.
