Royal Holloway History students at the BBC!

Posted on 26/10/2012

Two Royal Holloway History students - Emma Crew and Elle Larsson - won BBC placements during summer 2012 - here is what they have to say about this exciting opportunity:  "Work experience placements at the BBC are designed to quickly introduce you to a wide range of roles that contribute to the production of television programs. Over the summer we both secured such placements on history documentaries and were able to participate in and observe a variety of these roles. Between us we conducted research, sourced props, collected equipment, went out on location and witnessed filming first-hand for both live and pre-recorded shows. We also transcribed footage and observed edits. Our four weeks were a valuable hands-on learning experience that it would be very difficult to find elsewhere and we really enjoyed the opportunity. We gained valuable experience right through from the initial application process and would encourage other students not to be put off by the number of applicants that the BBC receives. Be optimistic, take a risk and give it a go!"
