Dr Mustafa Dikec, Reader in Human Geography in the Department at Royal Holloway, has been awarded one of the top honours in British Geography. Dr Dikec will be presented with Royal Geographical Society's Gill Memorial Award by the RGS President, Michael Palin at a special ceremony on 11th June 2012.
The Gill Memorial Award is presented for outstanding research work in the early phase of an academic career. It has been conferred on Mustafa in recognition of his work on urban geography, space and politics. Dr Dikec is currently working on a major AHRC-funded project on the distribution of time in the nineteenth and early-twentieth century European city. He is Director of the MA in Cultural Geography at Royal Holloway, and teaches a very popular third year course on the Geographies of Time and Space.
