Posted on 15/01/2014

PhD candidate Liz Haines has won a place at a prestigious summer institute, “Knowledge and the Politics of Land”, to be held at Cornell University’s Institute for the Social Sciences in May 2014. Liz will take part in an intense week of discussion with other doctoral students as part of a research project, organised by Sara Pritchard, Steven Wolf, and Wendy Wolford of Cornell, entitled “Contested Global Landscapes”. Liz will be discussing her archival research into colonial cartography in Northern Rhodesia and the material cultures and technical practices of colonial survey.
