Professor John Lowe, of the Department of Geography at Royal Holloway, has been awarded the prestigious Victoria Medal by the Royal Geographical Society in recognition of his achivements in the "Research of Quarternary Science".
Since 1832, the RGS have annually presented medals and awards in recognition of those individuals who have made outstanding achievements in geographical research and fieldwork, teaching and public engagement.
The Presentation Ceremony of the Royal Medals and other Awards of the Society took place during the Society's AGM on 6 June 2011, at the Society in central London.
