Posted on 29/09/2010
Under the patronage of the NGO Natural Resource Defence Council, Dr Varyl Thorndycraft was invited to Santiago (Chile) to talk about palaeoflood records at a workshop focused on Glacial Lake Outburst Floods (GLOFs) and their impacts, in particular in relation to a proposed hydroelectric scheme in Patagonia. Varyl and colleagues will be carrying out field work in Patagonia in April 2011 to reconstruct the magnitude and timing of past GLOF events.
