100% Satisfaction Rating (again) in National Student Survey

Posted on 16/09/2013

For the third year in a row, the Human Geography BA and Geography BA programmes at Royal Holloway gained a score of 100% for overall satisfaction in the official National Student Survey.  Our rating for the Physical Geography and Geography BSc programmes was also well into the 90s, with an overall score for the Department of 95% satisfaction.

The Department's complete record for student satisfaction since the current NSS scoring system was adopted is as follows:

2007    99%  (100% in Physical Geography)
2008    98%
2009    92%
2010    94%
2011    99%  (100% in Human Geography)
2012    98%  (100% in Human Geography)
2013    95%  (100% in Human Geography)

The details of the survey also showed strong satisfaction across the full range of questions, covering specific issues of teaching quality, organisation, feedback, and student support.  Professor David Gilbert, Head of Department, commented that 'the NSS scores are the result of hard-work and dedication by the staff here, and reflect both the importance we place on undergraduate teaching, and the close, community nature of the Department. Some of the biggest names in UK Geography play their full part in the undergraduate programme here, including small group tutorials in year one.  We've had some of the very best scores in the UK every year since the start of the NSS, and our overall record is second to none.'
