Extensions: How do I get a no cost extension?

Extensions: How do I get a no cost extension?

If you are approaching the end of an award and need additional time to complete the project then you may be able to apply for a no cost extension from the funding body.

It is recommended that you review the project at least 60 to 90 days prior to the end date of the project period to assess whether a no-cost extension will be required to complete the project objectives, as the earlier the funding body is contacted, the more likely it is to agree to an extension.

PI’s should be aware that research councils have tightened their rules regarding no-cost extensions and generally it will only be considered if there is a break in staff service or a hold up with the project due to circumstances out with the PI’s control, any other reason will need to be justified but may not be granted an extension.
